Targeted Educational Enhancement Grants

David A. Pickler Technology Award:

Founded and funded by the first chairman of the Shelby County Board of Education, the David A. Pickler Distinguished Technology Educator Award exists to recognize teachers each year for innovative uses of technology to enhance instruction. Two teachers (one for K-5 and the other from 6-12) are honored for their contributions and a video of their practices is prepared and placed into the "best practices" section of the Shelby County Schools on-line digital video collection.

Award winners receive a cash prize for the purchase of curriculum materials, a personal plaque, and his or her name on a permanent plaque to be displayed in the county schools' administration building. The winners are honored as well at the district's annual Teacher of the Year Banquet and the videos about their contributions are shown to those in attendance.
