| Targeted Educational Enhancement Grants
The Shelby County Schools Education, a 501(c)3 organization that promotes community support for the enhancement of high quality education for the students and staff in the Shelby County Schools system, has begun a program of Targeted Educational Enhancement Grants to be distributed to schools within the Shelby County School System. Applications were solicited from eligible schools for grants up to $500 per school for projects which address the specific goals of the program. The goals of the program are to supplement educational instruction for children with special education needs or children identified as English Language Learners, to initiate innovative programs for teaching science or mathematics, and to provide educational resources such as library books or equipment for music, art, or physical education. The Shelby County Schools Education Foundation wants to acknowledge the Bank of Bartlett and FedEx, whose generous sponsorship of the Alumni Hall of Fame Gala helped fund the Targeted Educational Enhancement Grant program. Fifty-two applications were submitted, but only thirteen projects could be approved using present funds. Obviously the need far exceeds the funds available. You can help close this gap by joining the above sponors and making a donation now. |
